Welcome!

Hi, I’m Jeff Bollow, author of Writing FAST: How to Write Anything with Lightning Speed, and I’d like to welcome you to the new blog.

Writing FAST has been around a few years… so why start a blog now?

Two reasons:

  1. New writers discover Writing FAST every single day… and the momentum is building! That means the vast majority of writers using this system have only just discovered it!
  2. Writing is more popular today than ever before, thanks to the explosion of new media outlets that enable anyone to publish their own work (like a blog, for example). The ability to write fast is more important than ever!

We’re well into the second printing of Writing FAST, but truth be told, sales still haven’t warranted the extensive update I had originally planned. And like most creative people, I’d rather focus on the next project than the last.

So I thought I’d create this blog to build and expand on the FAST System here, online, where you can contribute directly.

My aim is to add tips, tricks, suggestions, help, answers and communication.

Feel free to ask questions about the FAST System, let me know if you need help or clarification on anything within the book, or just get in touch to share your writing stories, writing tips, ideas, daydreams or comments.

Let’s build this community… and FAST!

  1. Hey Jeff:

I’m about three-quarters of the way through “Writing FAST” and have a few questions.

First, I have to tell you I do not understand what you mean by Talktation at all. I thought maybe you were talking about dictating into a tape recorder or whatever, but later you kind of make it clear that is not how it works. So how does it work?

Secondly, you kind of just tossed “setup” and “payoff” out there without too much explanation. Is setup the introduction and payoff the conclusion? How many setups and payoffs are there in a book? Is there a setup and payoff to every chapter, section, paragraph, and/or sentence?

I do wish you had included more examples of your system in the book. I’m liking your style, but feel a bit gypped on the promise end. Your style and system is quite an improvement over Vitale’s “Hypnotic Writing.” I like the steps for perfecting writing and am dying to try them out. I tried emailing your blog, but don’t think my message made it through.

I want to use your methods for How-to type books and materials, but I also plan to buy a copy for my daughter who has been talking about writing a screenplay for sometime now. She has edited a couple of bio-type books wanted to put both in the form on screenplays, but the writer’s rejected the idea.

If you could get back to me on Talktation and some additional details of the setup and payoff, I’ll be able to jump in and try it out.

    Rob
